OK not o.k.

Smaller numbers this week as the impact of school holidays and a long weekend for the Independence Day celebrations took its toll on the turn out. We had 13 mongrels playing on a fairly quiet course. In fact it was so quiet that the 3 three balls were round the course in 3 hours despite a group of 4 jumping in front of us on the back 9. The weather is definitely warming up.... we played in temperatures around 35° but it was not so humid.... that will come in another couple of weeks.

The scores generally were not good..... although there is always one exception !!! Our lovely OK played out a 'nightmare' on the course despite wearing the latest in fashion..... arm supports !!! Is this a sign of old age ????? Anyway, there is really no polite way of putting it...... OK is Dog doodoo of the week with 17 points !!! Houdini, Paul Rodgers, escaped the honour with 18 points and Holger with 19. In the balls......well, that all time master of 'hooks', Curly Whurly Freeman was nearest the pin on the 6th..... bleedin difficult for him not to be the nearest as he was the only one to land on the green !!!! Gary came in 3rd with 28 points, Lilo was 2nd with 29 points and then we have Teb as Leader of the Pack with 37 points having played a stormer of a round missing about 5 birdie chances by a whisker !!! Well done.

Paddy's revenge

Hi Pack
A large turn out of 23 assorted mongrels appeared at Kurmitola to witness an amazing display of golf by Top Dog... Saint Patrick did what only Rabbi Burns has managed before!!! The legs were numb, the arms spasmodic and the brain convulsive!! I suppose it was a miracle that I got round the course and got any points at all !! BUT I didn't end up with the Dog doodoo.... a very kind gentleman took pity on my parlous state and humoured me by getting the same number of points but through sheer decency arranged his points in a manner that gave him the honour. Brian, you are a true gent and I thank you, Sir. I suppose you want to know how few points we got.... an average of less than 1 per hole !!! The next nearest to the odoriferous pleasure were a good 7 points ahead !!!

Nearest the pin was Lisette who started off as a contender for the doodoo but suddenly got to grips with something and came in with a splendid score. In 3rd place was Gary losing on countback to Lisette on 33 points. Lilo is Leader of the Pack this week with 34 points. Well done.

Handicap adjustments.... Alan and Brian up 1 and Lilo down 1.

A reminder.... please let Gus know of you attendance or otherwise for the Dogs dinner on 8th April.

Blown away... mostly!

A great turnout for this weeks meet. A total of 22 mongrels played in lovely conditions... clear sunny day but strong gusty winds which kept the temperature and scores relatively low this week. It is pleasing to note that the speed of play was good and all 6 groupings were round in much less than 4 hours. Well done... lets keep that pace up !!

The scores.... well 3 pooches battled hard to play the most golf with all 3 coming in with a meagre 19 points. However, the honours go to Ian Mackenzie... Kim's Dad.... who lost on count back from Gert-Jan and Holger. So Ian, you are Dog Doodoo of the week despite claiming to be a visitor.... that is not what 3 Putt Pete says and the fact that you were wearing a Dogs shirt indicates that you are permanent !!! Enjoy the pleasure of being smelly!!! And apologise to Kim for letting the side down!!!
There is no doubt about who got closest to the pin on the 12th.... that was Lars.

But there is confusion about those with balls.... and it didn't become apparent until after we had left the club but as is her 'want', Matahari checked the cards last night and found an anomaly!!! Unfortunately, Gary Lye and his marker scored incorrectly taking an extra stroke somehow. The result of this error was that Gary is not Leader of the Pack... that honour goes to Heather on 32 points... well done Heather. Gary only had 31 points (it is questionable whether he should be disqualified altogether.... but giving him the benefit of the doubt and bearing in mind his gross score was correct he will be let off this time..... and also, whilst I try to establish the rule!!) which meant that he is runner up beating 3 Putt Pete on countback.

I have to say that this sort of confusion we really don't need and I would request that people are more careful when marking their cards.... we do not expect to have to check all the cards before handing out the honours.... Pascale and I want to enjoy our beer as well!!! Please note that it is each individuals responsibility to know their handicap and score to it!!!!!

The dogs dinner is being held on Saturday 8th April at Gus's kennel. Please would you let him and me know of your attendance and whether you are being accompanied..... as soon as possible.
Golf next week will be at Kurmitola at the usual time. I look forward to seeing you there.

Curly Whurly at it... again

A happy pack of 20 gathered for the 'off' yesterday with the course in great condition and the weather perfect.... so why was the golf so dismal??? It is a strange game!! Overall the scores were low. The lowest was, for a second week running, our very own 'Curly Whurly' Freeman who battled manfully against all odds to complete the 18 averaging a point a hole and still maintained a smile (I think it was a smile!!). So Curly Whurly, retains the dubious honour of kennelling the Dog Doodoo for another week !! Teb was very grateful as he only managed 21 points !!

At the other end, Heather came in 3rd with 29 points... and the big question being asked by all.... did she get onto the island green no 13?? The answer is yes... eventually have washed only one ball in the 'pani' en route this week but scored 'nil point' !!! In 2nd place we had Gary on 30 points, apparently helped by the fact that his mobile phone remained silent all the way around the course !!! And Leader of the Pack this week is the other half of the Leader last week... 'Matahari' Pascale on 33 points. She also walked off with the Nearest to the Pin on hole number 8. Well done. The revised handicaps will be notified by Matahari shortly. Yes, she will be doing a bit of self mutilation !!!

On the social front, the next dogs dinner will be held on Saturday 8th at Gus Mac's residence. Please note this date in your diaries. We will be seeking confirmation of your attendance nearer the time and letting you know the requirements for food etc.
We meet at Kurmitola next Saturday at the usual time. I look forward to seeing you there.
