Savar savage

Hi Pack... what a glorious victory !! For those that are confused, Scotland put one over the 'Auld enemy' on the Rugby field yesterday !!!

We had a fun trip out to Savar yesterday with 14 mongrels making the effort to go. Once again we were warmly welcomed... yes, it was a bit hot but a breeze kept it pleasant and the course was generally in fine shape!! Mr "Curly Whurly" Freeman was gripping it and ripping it all over the place but generally not within the grounds of the golf course. With such a fine performance, it is hardly going to come as a surprise that he is the keeper of the dog doodoo this week !! He scored 19 points which saved our Dingo Kate (21 points) from the humiliation of cleaning it !! At the other end we had a visitor called 'Matts' (who apparently is here to give Gary Lye heaps of dosh to dig holes in the ground) in 3rd place with 34 points. In 2nd place we had Gary himself on 35 points and Leader of the Pack this week was Philippe on 36 points !!! Well done Philippe. I gather that whilst Philippe was doing his grandest to get his handicap chopped Madam Matahari was living a nightmare at Kurmitola in the Championship along with Dog Heather who rumour has it found the Island green 13th particularly wet !!! Is it correct that Heather took a "20" on that hole.... come clean, Girls???!!!!

Next week we will be back at Kurmitola at 12 o'clock as usual.

Ian played BA

It is definitely warming up... the weather, not my golf !!! Kurmitola is under preparation for the Amateur Championship which will be played later this week. Good luck to those Dogs that intend to participate... hopefully all your fellow competitors will play to the rules as decided by the R&A and not the more flexible unwritten rules determined by local caddies !!!

A good turnout again this week with 18 dogs in the pack. There would appear to be a split in the standard of golf played. Those that went out in the first groups (3 balls) played much better (and faster) than those slower groups playing in the 4 balls... may be there is a message in this somewhere !!! All the 'bollocks' went to the first 2 groups who finished at least half an hour earlier than the rest !!! At the rear end, we had a visitor who doesn't qualify for the pleasure of cuddling the Doodoo Trophy!! So that pleasure went to Ian Petrie with 18 points losing on countback from Holger. These lads saved Top Dog (19 points!!) from the ignominy of having to clean the "beloved memento" this week. A total lack of concentration resulting from the delight of playing with 3 lovely lassies!! At the other end, we had Teb in 3rd on 32 points having scored a record 22 of them on the 2nd nine !!!! In 2nd place we had Barry with 33 points and the Leader of the Pack this week is Dingo Kate with 35 points. Well done!!

Of late, there have been instances of people putting used balls in the pot. This is totally unacceptable and not within the spirit of the Dogs!!!! Please be fair and honest....only put NEW BALLS IN THE POT!!!!
As mentioned earlier the Championship is being played this week and Kurmitola is closed from 21st to 25th !! We will therefore play at Savar on Saturday. We will meet in the Army course car park before 10.30 so that we can arrange transport for those that need and travel out in convoy.

L'Hollande - nul point... almost

It is starting to warm up but still very pleasant playing conditions. Another couple of weeks and we will experience the 'hot and sweaty soggy shirt syndrome'............. lovely !!!! Nice new shirts are on their way.... so watch this space!!
Great turnout again yesterday with a pack of 20 (sounds like cigarettes!!) giving us 5 x 4. I would like to praise everyone for their efforts in getting round the course without hold ups. The groups all moved at a good pace and there was no hanging about. Well done, Pack. I have a sneaking suspicion that it may have had something to do with the fact that there was lovely cold German beer waiting for us in the club house...... thanks very much Holger and Lilo. It was lovely!!

And to the golf.... a mixed bag !!! The Dutch menagerie had a hard time of it with the exception of Lisette who, encouraged by her playing companions (guess who??) put on a great display.... and played good golf as well !! However, the Dutch dog Dogs were sniffing at every tree and 'pani' !!!! Leo, scored 14 points on the front 9 and then gave up all hope scoring a staggering 'Nil point' on the back 9.... giving a grand total of 14 points to take the Dog Doodoo Trophy home with him. He saved Teb the pleasure as Teb managed on a couple more points... 16 !! Fellow countrydog Gert-Jan, on his 1st outing with the Dogs did slightly better with 24 but worryingly 19 of those came on the 1st nine !!! And to the balls...Dave Freeman won Nearest the Pin at the 8th with a magnificent 'curly wurly' shot into the green that ended up 8 feet from the pin to get his birdie. In 3rd place was......... Top Dog with 32 points (3 cheers!!) !!! What a difference it makes when you play without a hangover !! In 2nd place was our new pup, Lilo with 33 points losing on countback to none other than 'Curly Wurly Freeman' who is this weeks Leader of the Pack!! Well done. Matahari Medeau will revise and advise the handicaps appropriately.
We will play at the usual time at the usual place next Saturday. How about Savar the following week?????

Brian burns(ed)

It was the 'morning after the night before'...... and I knew it !! Thanks a heap, Rabbie Burns!!! I must remember next year to stay away from that bottle of Whisky!!! More anon, but I am able to report that body and brain are reasonably synchronized again and recovery is in progress now !!

We had 19 dogs start and complete a round of Kurmitola although for at least one dog, it was a struggle... poor me !! As an indication of the lack of 'focus' on my part I actually had an airshot on my drive at the 6th !!! It is many years since I had an air shot !!! Anyway, after all this you would fully expect me to tell you that I was hugging the Dog doodoooooo Trophy last night but no....... that honour went to another chap who I am sure played marginally worse just to save me total ignominy and humiliation. Thank you Brian, for your consideration and kindness. Brian is at the tail end (notice how nice I am being !!) with 15 points. Steve, a visitor had 18 points and so did I !! However, Steve did get closest to the pin on the 6th so some consolation!
And now to the other end..... in 3rd place was Ian (Kim's Dad!!) playing with Kim's clubs with 33 points... must be something to do with those clubs!!! In 2nd place we had Philippe on 34 points and Leader of the Pack again is Gus with 35 points..... he obviously doesn't learn so we will have chop him severely again as we will Philippe. Well done Chaps. On behalf of OK, I apologise for the Lack of Trophy, Gus, but she is suffering memory loss.... it happens in old age, apparently!!

I would like to wish Bill Collis a speedy recovery.... he has broken a digit playing a game of rounders (or as the Americans call it 'softball'.... the ball isn't so soft, Bill !!) so will be out of action for a few weeks.
